Artist Bio
Jessica Zekus is originally from Tucson, Arizona. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in both Fine Arts and Psychology in 2007 from Alfred University (Alfred, New York). It was at Alfred that she discovered her passion for clay and the coiling process, and decided to pursue a life in ceramics. She continued to build her portfolio and earned a Master of Arts in Studio Art in 2008 from Marywood University (Scranton, Pennsylvania) and then went on to earn her MFA in Ceramics in 2012 from the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, Indiana). While at Notre Dame, she had the wonderful opportunity to teach ceramics to undergraduates for two years. She hopes to teach in the future; she loves helping students discover their creativity! Since graduation, Jessica has found her way back to the Southwest and currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her husband and three young children.
